From the event organizers:
The Richmond Interparish Council, in collaboration with The Church of the Ascension Staten Island, will host a screening of The Philadelphia Eleven, a documentary film about the “irregular” ordination of eleven women as priests at The Church of the Advocate on July 29, 1974. With the help of biblical scholar The Rev. Dr. Julie Faith Parker and diaconal historian The Rev. Geraldine Swanson, we will explore the ways God calls us and the historical and biblical foundations for women’s ordination as deacons, priests, and bishops. We will leave inspired to listen more closely to God’s call in our lives.
